The "Action for Food" Drive begins this weekend, we have a new imported food store for you to check out, find some treasures at the farmers market, help PEACE clean the beaches, spend the weekend in La Cruz and attend or participate in the Regatta or the Volkswagen Festival.

Communities United in "Action for Food" Drive

The Vallarta Yacht Club will be helping hungry families survive this time through a united North Bay effort led by the non-profit organization PEACE.

The "Action for Food" drive is collecting dry food donations September 1-30, 2012.  Community members participating in this PEACE program do volunteer service to the community in exchange for food. They clean and separate garbage from fields, plazas, and schools. In return they earn a food package for 10 meals.

Can you help? Food items needed to support the Protectores are: dry beans in bags, dry rice in bags, box milk, pasta noodles, canned tuna, soup bouillon, tomato paste, toilet paper and cooking oil. This food package provides 10 meals with a cost of only 70 pesos (about $5 US).

This Community Pride program helps participants feed their families and develops a sense of responsibility for the community with the dignity of earning rewards instead of receiving charity.

Casa Gourmet Imported Food

Why not check out the newly opened imported food store in Old Town? They have a huge selection of imported items from all over the world.

The owner of Casa Gourmet, Gerardo Robles Lomeli, was the importer of the products previously sold at Rizo's and realized the importance of Puerto Vallarta's ex-pats and tourists to be able to find products "from home" that have not been available here.

You won't believe the great selection of products available in the comfortable air-conditioned space.

Summer hours are Monday - Saturday, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Beginning in October, they will be open on Sundays, same hours.

Stop in and say "hola" to the delightful Manager, Leonor Villegas, who always has a smile on her face.

Casa Gourmet is located in Old Town Vallarta at 130 Ignacio L Vallarta, Local 4, in the Rivera Molina Plaza, corner of Aquiles Serdan (next to Mailboxes, etc.). Phone is 222-1940.

Visit the PuRR booth where they always have adorable kitties for adoption, shop the artisan booths for jewelry, ceramics, purses and art objects.
