The John Ozzello Memorial Food Bank of Bucerias is hosting a major fundraiser again this year to help get us through the low season.

For only 750 pesos, you can enjoy a day of Whale Watching as well as helping to support the local food bank.

The boat will be leaving La Cruz Marina at 8:30 am and will be returning at around 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Included in this fundraiser is whale watching, snorkeling, continental breakfast, open bar and lunch. There will also be a raffle onboard with many wonderful prizes. It has been a huge success in the past years and we hope to have as many excellent prizes again.

As an added bonus, this year we will have The Gecko Band onboard to play some of our favorite songs. If you have never heard them before, you are in for a real treat!

Not only will you have an enjoyable and memorable experience, you will also be helping to feed the needy in our area. It's a win, win situation!

To purchase tickets you can call Sandi or Randy Nystrom at cell phone (322) 240-1082 or email at rsnystrom@hotmail.com. As of this writing, we only have 26 tickets left so get them while you can. When all the tickets are sold, we'll start a waiting list.

In 2009, John Ozzello, the President of Amigo's de Bucerias at the time, saw there was a need for a food bank in Bucerias. He managed to set up distribution and collection centers for this need. Currently, we are feeding 430 families per month EXCEPT for December when we provide an extra 320 despensas. Our despensas consist of rice, beans, maseca, oil, fideo, and tomato puree. It is taken to La Fuente church, Tercera Edad, Abuelos de Bucerias, Ixtapa, Agape Mezcales, Agape Punta de Mita, and San Ignacio where volunteers package it into individual despensas to be handed out. Along with our monthly despensas, because of the help YOU have also shown, we are also able to provide 'emergency relief' as needed. In 2015, there was a flood in Nayarit as well as Hurricane Patricia. We stepped up and provided 700 EXTRA despensas to people who were affected by the flood and hurricane. This would NOT have happened if it weren't for the generosity of YOU!

Thanks for your support and see you on February 10, 2018.
