Stars

There are different kinds of stars - external stars and internal stars. The three wisemen were not necessarily the wisest of all men or the most knowledgeable, but they followed a star to find their dream. They were willing to take the internal and external journey. The wisemen went someplace physically and emotionally where they had never been before. They followed a star in the sky and they followed the star inside themselves in order to arrive at their destination.

We all have journeys, emotional and physical, that we need to take. Our visits will not be to the Christ Child, but to a loved one or to a stranger who is waiting for us to come. The gifts will not be frankincense, gold and myrrh, but a kiss, an embrace, words, blankets, food... and love.

The gift to ourselves is to keep our internal star bright, so it will light our lives when there is darkness.

Wishing you a blessed, blissful and peaceful Christmas,
Gretchen

In Puerto Vallarta:

Peace Pet Picnic

Thirty dogs and more than double that number of humans attended the 7th annual "Pet Picnic" at Daiquiri Dick's.

Organized by Laura Gelelzunas, approximately 11,000 pesos were raised for the PEACE's Ayuda a Los Animales free spay/neuter clinics.

Dogs and humans had a great time!

Adoptions

There are several blogspots and websites that have photographs and descriptions of dogs and cats that have been lost and/or found, animals that need rescuing and/or fostering, animals for adoption and requests from people who would like to adopt a cat or dog.

For local animal information and photographs on Facebook, please view: Angelicat; AyudaMutt; centro de acopio animl pv (note:  there is no "a" in the "animal"); Cuidando sus Huellitas; Paraiso Felino; PV Animal; PVDOGNEWS;  Plus, you can check out MexPup, PuRR Project, SPCA PV, Paraiso Felino, or Centro de Acopio Animal Pound PV.

PEACE Clinic Information

"Ayuda a Los Animales" ("Help the Animals") is the free mobile spay/neuter program of PEACE. The clinics need funding and are the only solution to the enormous overpopulation of cats and dogs. Cost to PEACE is approximately $2,268 per surgery week and we need FUNDING.

Clinics also need volunteers, locations for our mobile unit and donations of vet and pet supplies, including meds,  used towels, sheets, kennels, collars and leashes.

To volunteer or for specific directions, email ceci@peacemexico.org.

Addresses and directions are usually not confirmed until Tuesday evening before scheduled clinic for that week.

No food or water after midnight for the animals before bringing pets to clinic. Minimum age for sterilization for cats and dogs is eight weeks.

Animals are treated for ticks, fleas, parasites and mange.

Please arrive early. Our limit is 25 animals a day. First come, first served.

If lost en route, call Lalo at 044-322-141-1031.

Times are 9:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday through Friday, and 9:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday.

You will find the complete spay/neuter clinic locations on our Events Calendar.

Colina Clinic

We are happy to report the Colina Free Spay & Neuter Clinic has reopened at a new location – 491 V. Carranza in Old Town Puerto Vallarta.

Free surgeries are offered every Sunday from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. First come, first served.
