Democrats Abroad invites you to participate in watching and celebrating President Obama's second inaugural celebration.

Even if you aren't a U.S. citizen or a Democrat, do come to Paradise Community Center on Monday, January 21 at 10:30 am to share a part of history on Inauguration Day. We especially encourage our Mexican and Canadian friends to come.

The theme for the inauguration is Faith in America’s Future and is preceded on Saturday, January 19, by National Service Day, a new tradition introduced at the 2009 inauguration where Americans across the country are asked to give back to our communities however we can.

For National Service Day, our local Democrats Abroad leadership group recommends the following organizations specifically, if you want to get involved:

Puerto Vallarta Garden Club. On Saturday, the garden club, an organization actively working on the beautification of Puerto Vallarta and the launch of the May, 2013 Bougainvillea Festival, is having a work party to weed and prune planter boxes. Meet at 10:30 at the corner of Olas Altas and Basilio Badillo. Read related story.

Pasitos de Luz. An art benefit is being held for Pasitos de Luz Wednesday, January 16, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Casa De Las Flores, Calle Amapas 359, 100 peso donation.  Pasitos helps disabled children achieve their rehabilitation and basic needs. Read related story.

Horizonte de Paz Rehabilitation Clinic for men with problems of drug and alcohol abuse is seeking donations of non-perishable groceries and cash. Contact Dean McIntyre for information and arrangements, deanmcintyre@yahoo.com. Read related story.

PuRR Project, a no-kill feline shelter home presently to approximately 200 cats. If you would like to contribute, volunteer, visit the shelter, or virtually adopt one of the furry residents, they can use your help. Read related story.

For a complete list of all the charities in the Banderas Bay area where your time, money or material donations can help, you will find over 120 worthwhile organizations and how you can get involved at pvangels.com.

We ask you to help heal our political divisions and work for a better future by celebrating Inauguration Day with us.

Democrats Abroad is sponsoring this event to witness the swearing in, inaugural speech and parade. All proceeds will be given to support the good work of Paradise Community Center.

The donation at the door is 200 pesos. For reservations, email bonmott@hotmail.com.

An Americana box lunch and drink of your choice is included. With your reservation, please indicate if you would like Vegetarian or Chicken (if you do not indicate your preference, we will reserve a chicken meal for you).

Paradise Community Center is located in Old Town Vallarta at Pulpito 127.

Everyone is welcome so please join us and make your reservation now!
