PUEBLA, Mexico - A large part of the over three billion young people in the world face poverty, inequality and lack of decent job opportunities, said today the Mexican Foreign Minister, Patricia Espinosa.

At the opening of the G20 Youth Summit (also known as Y20 Summit), which will be held from May 9 to 11 in Puebla, Espinosa invited the young attendees to exchange ideas and proposals on a planet that does not support unilateral solutions to the problems afflicting it.

She said that Mexico, as chairman of the G20, has promoted an open dialogue not only among governments but also with representatives from academia, business and union leaders, as well as civil society organizations.

The meeting will discuss, among other topics, the economic stabilization, youth employment, strengthening of multilateralism, food security, global governance, green growth and future of the G20.

The conclusions of the Y20 will be handed to the Mexican presidency on Friday to be presented as a proposal of the youth at the G20 Summit, which will take place on June 18 and 19 in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.
