Mexico ranks world's first in the recurrence of bullying at the level of secondary education, says an editorial of the newspaper La Jornada.

The text makes reference to the book "Enough! Let's End the Bullying", whose author, Cristina Jauregui, addresses this phenomenon by exposing documented cases that have caused individual and family traumas, and even caused the death of many children and adolescents in Mexico.

According to the author, the main causes of the advance of bullying are correlative to the family and the school, starting because many victims of school bullying and violence assure their parents, guardians or teachers do not believe them when the denounce the abuses they are subjected to.

A major part of the care of these problems should be initially contained in the areas of socialization closest to the victims, that is, schools and families, indicates La Jornada, which calls for an institutional response 'beyond the conjuncture response and the mere damage control.'

The context in which the problem has surfaced has, moreover, socioeconomic and cultural components, whose attention is inescapable responsibility of the public authorities, underlines the editorial.

It points out, among the causes the persistent domestic violence that affects a large number of households in the country, and the existence of an economic model based, among other things, on the supremacy of the strong over the weak.
