Mexican taekwondo champion Maria Espinoza will carry the London Olympics torch and also her country's flag during the inaugural ceremony on July 27, according to press reports.
Espinoza considered a great experience being the first Mexican female athlete in carrying the torch at the London Olympics, and said to be very motivated and proud of representing her country again in these games.
"It is a great experience to carry the torch," she said.
Regarding her training for the games, she said it is going as scheduled, working hard for a good performance in London.
According to results of previous competitions of the Olympic cycle, Mexico hopes 20 athletes will make their way to the finals, and then win medals mainly in taekwondo, dive, soccer, athletics, boxing and archery.
