Argentine President Mauricio Macri and his Mexican counterpart, Enrique Peña Nieto, drank a toast Friday to the "close ties" that unite the two nations, while, lunching together at the Casa Rosada Museum in Buenos Aires.

"This is your home. Thank you for visiting us. Let us drink to the Mexican people and the Argentine people. Viva Mexico! Viva Argentina!" Macri said during a brief speech at the lunch for Peña Nieto and his delegation, who are on a state visit to Argentina.

Lunch was served after a meeting of the two presidents at the Casa Rosada presidential residence and the signing of a series of bilateral accords.

"We hope the agreements we signed today will multiply and will take us to a time when our two countries will have a free trade agreement of absolute integration, which will in turn lead us to strengthening the best of ourselves and so contribute to making Latin America more solid and more attractive for investment," Macri said.

When Peña Nieto spoke at the Casa Rosada Museum, he thanked Macri for his "expressions of hospitality" and said his visit to Buenos Aires "is a step toward achieving a new stage in the relations between the two countries" marked by a "shared vision" of "how to create prosperity for our societies."
