Since torrential rainfall has claimed almost a hundred lives in Peru and over 300 in Colombia in 2017, Mexico should also be alert against the lethal El Nino phenomenon, an expert warns.

The El Nino phenomenon focuses on the central and the east-central equatorial Pacific. As part of its curse, temperature rise causes the sea to evaporate faster, leading to torrents and human catastrophes.

The rainy season is fast approaching Mexico.

This is why Calvo calls for immediate attention and precaution, right after Colombia and Peru were ravaged by rampant waters.

As a result of the El Nino, climate change has seriously affected Mexican coastlines in recent years, which are part of the Pacific shore of Latin America.

To make things worse, the sea level has increased by three or four millimeters per year, which is why researchers worry that more horrendous consequences may be dormant for Mexico.
