The recent call for independence from Catalonia may have sparked a copycat movement in Mexico. A group is calling for these states to break off and unify as "The Mexico Republic Of The North." Since it's only a Facebook page at the moment, It might just be a joke. But page likes have gone up by 4,200 percent in only two weeks.

This isn't the first call for independence from Mexico. The state of Yucatán went independent in 1841. It was seven years before the state decided to again tie the knot with Mexico. There are also groups in Mexico currently calling for an independent state, such as the group calling for an independent Baja California region.

Only time will tell if the North will be able to repeat the past. Will it succeed... and secede?
