As Mexico prepares to host Pope Benedict the XIV, the American continent is seeing more of the faithful to stay away from church following continued allegations of sexual abuse of children by Roman Catholic priests.

Throughout Latin America, the Vatican has been accused of covering up dozens of abuse cases spanning decades.

Al Jazeera's Lucia Newman reports from Santiago where in staunchly Catholic Chile, reports of abuse are leading many away from the church.
