The XXI Banderas Bay International Regatta will take place on March 19 to 23, 2013, and is always one of the most popular events of the year in the Puerto Vallarta area. Headquarters will be the Vallarta Yacht Club.

The Banderas Bay Regatta for 2013 is the 21st annual. We are celebrating the start of our third decade with a renewed focus on fun.

The event has always been non-profit and our generous sponsors have made it possible for us to keep the costs down for our competitors.

The entry fee is 800 pesos per boat (Less than $65 USD) this includes:

• Two tickets to the Awards Party on the beach
• A BBR XXI hat
• Two reusable water bottles with free refills
• Happy Hours at Vallarta Yacht Club
• Reduced price events and live music every night at VYC
• Great sailing in Banderas Bay

Extra Awards Party Tickets are available at a discount if ordered online. They are 450 pesos at the door.

The Regatta will be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2013 – 2016. The rules with changes are available from ISAF or HERE.
 
This Regatta is open to all monohull and multihull sailboats suitable and equipped for sailing in Banderas Bay. They shall have sufficient crew to safely maneuver a vessel in a competitive environment. They shall have proof of liability insurance as required in Mexico. Entry is online HERE.

Basic Class Divisions are Cruising Monohulls and Cruising Multihulls. Further Class divisions grouping boats with similar performance will be made based on entries received (5 boats per division minimum).
 
The entry fee is 800 pesos per boat. This includes two (2) tickets to the Awards Party on the Beach. Tickets available online (Discounts Available) or at Skipper's Meeting (Must be registered.)

• 4:00 pm, Handicap Review Request Deadline
• 5:00 – 9:00 pm, Noche de Mojitos Cubana

Thursday - March 21
• 9:00 am, Final Divisions / Handicaps Posted
• 11:30 am, Boat Parade
• 1:30 pm, Race 1, 1st Start
• 5:00 – 9:00 pm, Festival de Ceviche

Friday - March 22
• 1:00 pm, Race 2 / 1st Start
• 5:00 – 9:00 pm, Fish Fry

Saturday - March 23
• 1:00 pm, Race 3 / 1st Start
• 7:00 – 11:00 pm, Awards Beach Party
 
PHRF Handicap or Cruising Handicap provided by Vallarta Yacht Club will be used. For Handicapping Details see Banderas Bay Handicaps. Current Valid List HERE.
 
Low point scoring system per Appendix A, all races to count (no throw out). Finishing Order scoring using Time On Time (TOT). Proof of entry and display of BBR Racing Number required for scoring.
 
The Standing Sailing Instructions of the Vallarta Yacht Club shall apply. Banderas Bay Regatta Sailing Instructions will be provided prior to the close of entry March 19.
 
The Regatta headquarters is the Vallarta Yacht Club. All notices will be posted on the Official Notice Board at VYC. The racing area is Banderas Bay, Nayarit, Mexico off Nuevo Vallarta.
 
The Courses on two days will be around the buoys approximately 6 to 12 miles long with an estimated 4-hour time limit. A mid-distance race is planned for one day with an estimated 5-hour time limit. Course details as described in the Sailing Instructions.
 
Prizes will be given for the first, second, and third place in each class of 5 or more boats. The Awards Celebration will be at the Paradise Village Resort beach following the last race.
 
Competitors participate in the Regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Regatta.
 
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party insurance with a minimum coverage as required by Mexican Law. Mexican Liability Insurance is available on line at Mariners.
 
Basic Racing Rules:
1. Avoid Collisions
2. Have Fun
3. Opposite Tacks: Port tack gives way to Starboard tack
4. Same Tack: Windward boat gives way to Leeward boat
5. At Marks: Outside boat gives way to Inside boat if overlapped.  In doubt?, see Rule 1
6. Play Nice. BBR is not the America's Cup. Don't assume others know the rules as well as you think you do. See Rule 2
7. Don't miss Happy Hour! This is why we have time limits.
 
Sailing is fun, it is self policing. We have a Zero Tolerance policy for poor sportsmanship.  I hope you have a GREAT time!
