'Viva la Paz': Hundreds March on World Peace Day Ceci Paredes - Peace Punta de Mita

Last week, Punta de Mita´s main road vibrated to the sound of hundreds of enthusiastic voices chanting for Peace in the World. (Peace Punta de Mita)

“Who will you make peace with?” was the Peace One Day slogan for this year. Peace One Day is a not-for-profit Organization founded by Jeremy Gilley in the UK, intending to promote peace in the World. Peace Punta de Mita A.C. joined this worldwide Peace Day movement by coordinating and gathering the Punta de Mita area communities together in a symbolic and fun act of union and peace among communities.

Friday September 20th, Punta de Mita´s main road vibrated to the sound of over 500 enthusiastic voices chanting for Peace in the World. Kindergarten, elementary and middle school students, parents, elders and teachers from Higuera Blanca, Emiliano Zapata and Corral del Risco walked, all dressed in white, from the Higuera Blanca/Punta Mita intersection to the Sports Centre.

“Viva la Paz”, “La Paz comienza con una sonrisa”, “Cuando el poder del amor triunfe sobre el amor al poder, el Mundo conocerá la Paz” were a few of the many quotes the kids were saying during the parade while carrying peace message banners.
With lots of joy from all the participants, colorful banners and music in the background, the Sports Centre witnessed the culmination of the event: students from different communities shaking hands and hugging in demonstration of worldwide Peace.

For those participants involved in Peace Punta de Mita, the one day event had special significance – Peace Punta de Mita´s programs support peaceful, joint cooperation of our communities in building a better quality of life for all, each and every day.
