Join us at No Way Jose! for our Puerto Vallarta Garden Club Meeting on Thursday, January 15 at 11:00 am.

Our guest speaker will be Leslie Korn. PhD, MPH. Dr. Korn has lived in the Bahia since 1973 conducting traditional medicine and ethnobotanical research and directing a public health clinic serving comunidades indigenas in Cabo Corrientes.

Dr. Korn's topic will be "Banana peels for hemorrhoids and other fun medicines from tropical fruits, vegetables and plants."

It should be a lively and informative talk. We all have plenty of banana peels around; how nice to find a good use for them!

Dr. Korn is the author of Rhythms of Recovery: Trauma, Nature and the Body, Preventing and Treating Diabetes Naturally, The Native Way, and Medicinal Plants of the Jungle. Her books will be available at the meeting.

“Yes, I want lunch!” IMPORTANT: We are arranging lunch with No Way Jose! Currently we do not have specific information. If you can join us after the meeting for lunch, please e-mail Bonnie Mott  to let her know you plan to stay. She will send an e-mail when we know our options.

Bring in new members and win a dinner for two. Member Julie Guerrero, our No Way Jose! host offered a membership incentive at our last meeting – it is being extended to our February 19 meeting date.  The person who brings in the most new or renewing members wins a gift certificate for two to No Way Jose! Dues are 300 pesos for an individual and 500 for a couple; get the money and let Matthias Vogt know.

Pole sponsorship. We have an on-going campaign to put in poles to support our trees around town. Sponsor one at only 1,600 pesos. You can see photos on our Facebook page showing the need. Facebook:  P.V. Garden Club.

All members and tile sponsors are listed on the Garden Club page. Be sure your name is included.

The Garden Club has planted hundreds of bougainvillea throughout town. Planting, fertilizing, pruning, watering and supporting them with sturdy poles is entirely the work of members and supporters of PVGC.  We encourage you to join our effort. Donations can be left in care of our Treasurer, Matthias Vogt, at Mailboxes Etc. Box #298, or Paypal through our website. You can be a sponsor of a planter too. Contact us or ask about this at the meeting.

No Way José! welcomes you to the Colonia Emiliano Zapata (Old Town) on the south side of downtown Puerto Vallarta at 5 de Febrero 260, just over the Vallarta street bridge on your left heading south from the Malecón.
