To promote LGBT rights, Vallarta Pride Organizing Committee has confirmed a commitment ceremony on May 22 at 8:00 pm as one of the official events of Vallarta Pride, taking place from May 17 to 25, 2015 in our destination.

This symbolic LGBT wedding ceremony, open to all couples interested in committing or renewing their vows, will be held at one of Vallarta's iconic boutique hotels, Casa Cupula. This ceremony will not only welcome the couples, but also friends and family amid a magical setting overlooking the ocean.

On this occasion, unlike ceremonies in previous years, the Organizing Committee has confirmed that a notary will certify the unions as a common law marriage granting marital rights under the current state law of Jalisco.

Additionally, the Committee is looking for four couples willing to apply for a marriage license in Puerto Vallarta. As soon as they are turned down, Collectivo Vallarta will step in and help the couples financially to file a discrimination process together. If during the process, a Federal Judge declares that these four couples were discriminated against, there is a big chance that same-sex marriage becomes legal in Puerto Vallarta.

Couples who are planning to participate are encouraged to send both names via a private message on the official Facebook Page.

Since the first edition of Vallarta Pride, the commitment ceremony has been one of the events attracting the most attention within the community. An increase in the number of couples committing to each other is expected, as this festival not only helps in promoting gay rights, but also promotes Puerto Vallarta as an ideal destination for gay weddings and honeymoons.
