Vallarta Yacht Club will have a very busy racing/sailing season for 2016 and we are looking for people who want to be involved. As every year, we will have WesMex Small Boat Regatta and Banderas Bay Regatta for larger boats, and we are always in need of help!
VYC successfully bid to host the Laser World Championships for 2016. These championships are actually 4 separate and distinct events, beginning April 4, 2016 and finishing May 30, 2016. Each of these events will have up to 160 competitors from 70 different countries. Two of the events will be comprised of Olympic Level athletes - many attempting to qualify to represent their countries in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. The other 2 events will will be World Masters' Championships, with competitors aged 35 – 75.
We need your help as volunteers for these events. You do not need to have a boat, or boating experience, just the desire to help in the biggest sailing regatta VYC has ever hosted. We just need friendly people who want to help showcase the club and the sailing venue, while ensuring a successful championship.
Many of you have experience in areas of Race Management, Committee Boat duties, Mark Set and Safety. If you don't have experience but would like to learn, we would be happy to train you. If you already have experience, we would appreciate your continued work in these areas. It is not necessary to commit to the entire event. If you are interested at all in helping make the event a success, let us know and we will work with you to create schedule that suits you.
