It's EXCITING to yell "Meow" and win a prize!

Summer Kitty Bingo Back by Popular Demand!

The popular Kitty Bingo returns beginning on June 12.

For those of you still in Vallarta for the summer, please help us put some pesos in the "kitty" by joining us at Summer Kitty BINGO on Tuesday afternoons at 5:00 pm in the Paradise Community Center.

Located on Pulpito #127 in Old Town (across from Coco's Kitchen) the center has plenty of shaded area with ceiling fans plus drinks and pizza or burgers available.

Once again, local chanteuse Mikki Prost will call the numbers and great prizes await the lucky persons who shout "Meow"!

A 50/50 raffle will add to the excitement. What could be more fun on a warm June evening?

We will continue at this location every other Tuesday through the summer as long as we have enough participation to warrant it, so PLEASE help us get the word out!

Bring an item on the wish list and receive one free BINGO card: Frontline Spray, Clumping Litter, Diamond Kitten Food (available at PetHome), Kirkland Adult Cat Food (Costco), Cat toys, Clorox Bleach, Scratching Posts, Clorox Wipes, Hand Gel - disinfectant, Laundry Soap.

July 10 Kitty Bingo update: The Bingo started on June 12 with great success and it was such fun that everybody agreed to add June 19 to the schedule. Unfortunately, there was not enough participation at the last event and it was decided to postpone Kitty Bingo until later this year. We'll keep you informed.

Adoption Update

Marj, Kara & Ryan with Roxy & Bella at the Victoria Airport

For Marjorie Dueck and her children Ryan & Kara it is hard to believe it has already been a year since they anxiously waited at the Victoria BC airport for the arrival of the two kitties they had chosen through e-mailed photos from the PuRR shelter.

Marj recently reported, "Bella and Roxy have been with us for 1 year now! A week after their arrival, our dear Moka passed away peacefully and it happened to be Mother's Day. Bella and Roxy spent a lot of time with her and oddly enough, those first few days, they would "bow" to her. Weird, eh? Not often do you see the two of them apart. Bella has turned into quite the talker... and it gets louder if we don't answer her! It's quite funny! And sweet little Roxy (who's not so little anymore) still has her affectionate personality. We just love them so much. Hope all is well and one day we will come to PV and will want a tour of the rescue house they came from!"

Since Roxy is sister to my Jackson, I am particularly interested in hearing from Marj... and I understand the two other sisters, Brandy & Tita, who were adopted here in PV, are also quite chubby now!

Farmer's Market News

Our kitties will thank you for choosing these purr-fect bags!

Many folks may not realize that the Farmer's Market at the Paradise Community Center plans to continue every Saturday through this summer.

The hours have moved up to 9:00 am  - 12:30 pm to take advantage of the cooler mornings.

Many of the vendors who were at the other street market moved over to the Community Center when it closed so there are still lots of fresh foods and homemade crafts being offered.

PuRR Project plans to continue having a booth there as long as possible since the need to raise funds becomes even more urgent during these summer months.

And, thanks to volunteer Erin Jones, we can now offer great eco-friendly shopping bags for only a 100 peso donation. They come in a variety of colors with that great PuRR logo and are puRRfect to hold all the goodies you can't resist at the market... or your beach towel, book & sunscreen! Plus we have a new supply of T-shirts in all sizes.

Come by and check us out on Saturday.

Adoptions

Lenny is ready to go home with Max Garcia

PuRR continues to hold an Adoption Day at Plaza Marina (in front of Comercial Mexicana) every Friday but we'd like to announce that the hours are changing. Our volunteers were reporting that many of the adoptions seemed to be at the last minute when we were getting ready to close up at 1:00 pm. So now we are arriving at 11:00 am and staying open until 2:00 pm.

Livia and Shannon did an amazing job the last two weeks and processed adoptions for ten kittens at Plaza Marina, including Lenny, Squiggy and Laverne! That makes a total of 30 PuRR kitties that have found their Forever Homes there since January. If anyone has friends looking for adorable kittens that have been spayed or neutered plus vaccinated, please send them to see Livia & Shannon!

You too can adopt a kitty. See some of our dozens of adoptable felines, contact us at visit@purrproject.com to sign up for a Shelter Tour. Or look for us Fridays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Plaza Marina and Saturdays at the Farmer’s Market from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

You can also virtually adopt a cat or kitty! Or simply donate to help PuRR Project take care of these gorgeous kitties.

The Art of Sleeping in a Box

It takes an Advanced Yoga Cat to achieve this position

You might want to read this to your kitty:

First try the basic Circle O position.

Then there's the Inverted C or the S.

Hang your legs out if you trust your Human. Experiment.

Invite a friend to join you in the box.

Try using the box flap as a pillow.

To avoid unwanted attention, choose a box with your same fur color.

Remember, you and your box must become as one. Meow.

Make a date to come visit our shelter and you can discover dozens of new ways to take a cat nap! We meet Wednesdays at 1:00 at the Starbucks in the Marina. If you need transportation or for more info, please contact Marilyn at exkhan@usfamily.net
