PEACE continues their summer beach clean-ups this year to take place every other Sunday with a special project for Mismaloya Village on Tuesday, July 3. We need your help.

For the special PEACE clean-up day at Mismaloya Village, organizers and volunteers will meet at the bridge next to the bus stop in front of Barcelò.

There will be two time slots for which to sign up, either 8:00 - 10:00 am or 10:00 am - 12:00 noon.

Thank you to organizers of this event, Shannon Beston and Gabriela Garcia and to Molly Fisher, Director of PEACE, for meeting with supervisor, Sr. Regidor Garcia Castillon, to secure permission and support from City Hall.

The municipality of Puerto Vallarta will be providing gloves, bags, and some personnel for this project.

The schedule for the every other Sunday beach clean-up this summer is July 1, July 15, July 29, August 12, August 26, September 2, September 16 and September 30.

We will meet at 8:30 am for an hour or two at the north side of the mouth of Rìo Cuale where the beach access is by the "sails." Bags and gloves provided. Location may change if beach is clean, so contact Shannon at shannon@bestonproperties.com for more information.

If we have more people, we can spread out and get more areas clean.

Volunteers are needed, so we hope to see you there.

An update notice from Gabriela & Shannon to property owners on Highway 200 South to Mismaloya:

As a tourist destination, Puerto Vallarta competes with locations all over the world in an increasingly competitive exotic travel market. To maintain both our market share and reputation in this highly competitive and environmentally savvy market we need to have a flawless product.

Sadly, PV falls short comparatively in the category of litter. We repeatedly hear feedback from visitors that we have a fabulous natural environment, unfortunately not cared for as there is so much on the beaches and roadsides.

PEACE and a group of concerned residents want to see us pitch in and do our part to create a more naturally beautiful Vallarta, so we have added a highway clean-up on July 3 on Highway 200 South to Mismaloya, specifically the inland side of the highway..

We will clean up the litter for an area 500 meters on either side of your property and leave in the designated garbage pick-up spot. We have a truck and will pick up and dispose of the trash at 12:00 Noon.

Research shows that a neighborhood that is free of trash and well maintained is less likely to attract additional trash, graffiti and crime. This results in higher property values and more tourism, which leads to more employment and less poverty.

We all benefit from a clean environment, from our personal health to our overall happiness.

Thank you,

Gabriela Garcia, Villa Mandarinas and Villa Castelli
