Our campaign to raise funds for a new training facility is now in full swing! If you are visiting Puerto Vallarta this winter and would like to learn more about the Puerto Vallarta city animal shelter, we invite you to join us by volunteering for a half-day! We meet at Costco at 9:00 am on Wednesday and Saturday at 9:30. Come spend a rewarding day with us!

The resort town of Puerto Vallarta is home to countless abandoned, neglected and unwanted animals. Many are hit by cars or starve to death. The lucky ones are taken to the town's only open admission shelter--the Centro de Acopio, or Animal Collection Center, where they receive food and very basic care. The facility is in dire need of upgrades, including additional kennel areas for dogs, quarantine areas for new arrivals, and a much needed training and exercise area.

For the last few years, a team of devoted animal lovers from both Mexico and Canada, have been working closely with the Acopio to increase animal adoptions, provide food and vaccines and raise awareness of humane animal treatment.

It's time for us to really make a difference for the resident animals by building a new kennel area and new training and playground facility on a piece of adjoining land. This would help us to socialize the many long-time resident dogs, allowing them to excerise, play and receive training in a dedicated, safe area thereby allowing us to continue to save the lives of many more homeless, new arrivals.
