95% of the straws that are used in Mexico are not recycled and the material of which they are made can take more than 100 years to decompose.

Oceans Free of Plastics (Oceanos Libres de Plastico) have joined up with EntreAmigos and San Pancho Bird Observatory in our new environmental campaign launching on Thursday, April 14 from 7:00 until 11:00 am of "Kick the Straw" ("Adios al Popote").

We'll meet at the Hotel Villa Flores, south of Rincon de Guayabitos for the 3 KM swimming, paddleboarding or kayaking from Isla Coral to Guayabitos.

Our mission is to raise awareness about decisions we can make to use less plastic - including straws - and to celebrate the gifts of the ocean by spending a morning in the water.

Donation participation tickets are $20 US / 400 pesos. We will provide round-trip transportation from San Pancho to Guayabitos (as needed). Breakfast after the swim, boat transport to the island, pre-swim snacks and an event t-shirt are included.

You can also join as a spectator or make a donation to the campaign (money, snacks, transportation, paddleboards/kayaks) and also help by ordering beverages without plastic and "Skip the Straw."

For more information and reservations, contact Oceanos Libres de Plastico at (322) 105-6984 or email oceanoslibresdeplastico@gmail.com. Please indicate if you will be participating as a swimmer, paddler or kayaker. You can also stop by EntreAmigos in San Pancho.
