Double Anniversary Fest Underway in Puerto Vallarta Team Angels/Gerardo Gonzalez - Vallarta Opina

Puerto Vallarta dresses up on the occasion of its 98th anniversary as a municipality and 48 years of its elevation to city through May Fest which provides an attractive cultural event ranging from cumbia to jazz, music contemporary folk, mariachi and mergers in the world, which will be a big party for locals and visitors.

The mayor, Arturo Peña Davalos, led the press conference in which they announced the program of activities to be developed in different public settings, with presentations for all tastes and ages, which will be free throughout the city until May 31.

"All concerts and events are scheduled for all Vallartenses families and also those who visit us to enjoy. The program, of course, includes local, national and international bands," explained the mayor, an effort he said is possible thanks to coordination between the city of Puerto Vallarta, the Indenture of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism of the State of Jalisco and some local entrepreneurs to provide this city with high-impact performances.

The mayor pointed out that the May Fest looks to position cultural festivals within the tourism agenda to create new attractions and rescuing the cultural value of the destination. This great celebration will involve an investment of 650 thousand pesos of which the Tourism Trust contributed 500,000, while employers support in kind in areas such as bands and participating groups and housing equipment such as  in the case of Puerto de Luna Hotel, restaurants and Jazz Foundation.

During these six days, said Arturo Davalos, attendance of 25,000 attendees can enjoy local, emerging groups, national and international fame, such as Sonora Dinamita. It seeks to make this activity a permanent festival for the town.

Meanwhile Fernando Sanchez, director of Vallartense Institute of Culture, said that all groups have been participating in various festivals and most come to present the Vive Latino.

He thanked the Mayor for his confidence and commitment that has been taken towards culture during his administration, "the Mayor's commitment to culture has been phenomenal with both jazz and cumbia, that's a combination that is not easy, but he trusted us to integrate a sign of this nature," in opening the doors to cultural tourism.

In this press conference the Director General of the Tourism Board, who acknowledged the work and support in tourism made by the municipal government and cultural promotion efforts being made was present. It was also attended by businesswoman Martha Dau, who said that this triad between town hall, the Tourism Trust and private initiative is the way they can achieve better results towards culture and other issues affecting the city.

As part of the festivities, some of the performers will be Sonora Dinamita, Puerto Vallarta Big Band, Joker Trio Band, Musical Culture, Guanatos Brass Band, The Pingo's Orchestra, San Juan Project, Tatewari, Mr. Owl, Moon Rumba, Pumcayó and Ampersan. In addition to the solemn anniversary session and delivery of Vallarta 2016 Award, there will be cake cutting, mariachi gala, fireworks, the Meeting of Chroniclers of Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay and the gastronomic show 'Sabores Vallarta.'
