Amigos Pro Animal AC hosted multiple pet walks and candlelight vigils in two towns in Mexico for IHAD 2014, with hundreds of people and their dogs in attendance to memorialize the victims of pet overpopulation.
On Saturday, August 20, 2016, International Society for Animal Rights (ISAR) will unite with animal protection organizations, humane societies and animal rescues, veterinary professionals, and concerned individuals worldwide for the 25th annual International Homeless Animals' Day.
Conceived by ISAR in 1992, International Homeless Animals' Day (IHAD) informs society of the global tragedy that overwhelms animal shelters each year pet overpopulation.
Since then, ISAR has reserved the third Saturday of August commemorating the Day annually, to promote new and existing campaigns, programs, and ideas on the solution to the pet overpopulation epidemic: spay/neuter.
To date, ISAR's International Homeless Animals' Day (IHAD) observances have been celebrated in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, in over 50 countries, and on 6 continents. We are asking all animal organizations and interested individuals to assist ISAR in enlightening others about the pet overpopulation crisis and to increase spay/neuter awareness by joining us in commemorating our 25th annual observance on August 20, 2016.
Those wishing to take part in this year's IHAD can receive a free planning packet by submitting a request to ISAR via mail, phone, fax, or email. Our planning packets include guidelines for organizing a successful observance with tips on site selection, reaching target audiences, suggestions for speakers, poems, songs, sample press releases, and proclamations are but a few of the items included in our packet. Early planning is a major component to organizing a successful International Homeless Animals' Day observance.
