Rewind: International Coastal Cleanup Day 2016 (Journey Mexico)
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is joining the crews working on the International Beach Cleanup Day that will take place on Saturday with the slogan: “Put trash in its place, so the beach is a clean space!”
Keeping the region’s beaches clean helps its image with tourists, plus it helps the environment and raises the quality of life for both visitors and those who live here, making it a shared responsibility. This is why several entities have joined the effort, including the National Commission of Protected Areas (Conanp, by its acronym in Spanish), Sierra de Vallejo-Río Ameca, Bahía Unida, Islas Marietas National Park, the Environmental Office of the Puerto Vallarta City Council and the Cabo Corrientes City Council. Both Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes have their own program.
The cleanup will include not only the beaches but also the rivers and the Islas Marietas National Park; work begins at 10 a.m. and lasts through 10 p.m.
• The first stop in the Riviera Nayarit will be at the beach at Destiladeras, led by the crew from the Palladium hotel; the meeting point will be at the esplanade at the beach entrance.
• A cleanup crew led by Tropical Incentives will work on La Manzanilla beach at La Cruz de Huanacaxtle; the meeting point will be at the beach entrance.
• The meeting point for cleaning up the beach in Bucerías will be at the statue of the Diver across from the main plaza.
• The Fibba crew is in charge of cleaning up the beaches of Nuevo Vallarta Sur and Nuevo Vallarta II. The meeting points will be at the “windows to the sea” at both beaches.
• The tourism service providers who will be engaged in cleaning up the Islas Marietas will depart from different areas along the bay and will meet in front of the islands.
The Riviera Nayarit is a destination that’s committed to keeping its environment clean, as it’s one of its main attractions. Its natural bounty has made it a sanctuary for humpback whales, giant manta rays, whale sharks, and sea turtles, not to mention it’s one of the top areas in the country for bird watching.

Riviera Nayarit se une al Día Internacional de la Limpieza de Playas
El 23 de Septiembre de 2017 habrá acciones de limpieza en playas, ríos y el Parque Nacional Islas Marietas, en una jornada que comenzará a las 10 a.m. y concluirá a las 10 p.m. La Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones de Riviera Nayarit (OVC) se suma a las acciones que con motivo del Día Internacional de la Limpieza de Playas tendrán lugar el próximo 23 de septiembre de 2017, con el lema “La basura en su lugar, para que no haya playa que limpiar”.
Mantener las playas limpias de la región en beneficio de la imagen turística, y mejorar la calidad ambiental así como la calidad de vida de los habitantes y visitantes, implica una responsabilidad compartida. Es por eso que a esta limpieza se suman también otros organismos como: la Comisión Nacional de Áreas Protegidas (Conanp), Sierra de Vallejo-Río Ameca, Bahía Unida, Parque Nacional Islas Marietas y la Subdirección de Ecología del Ayuntamiento de Puerto Vallarta y el Ayuntamiento de Cabo Corrientes. Tanto Puerto Vallarta como Cabo Corrientes tienen su propio programa.
Se procederá a limpiar no solo las playas, sino los ríos y el Parque Nacional Islas Marietas, en una jornada que comenzará a las 10 a.m. y concluirá a las 10 p.m.
• La primera actividad en Riviera Nayarit será en la playa Destiladeras, en una acción encabezada por el hotel Palladium, teniendo como punto de reunión la explanada de entrada a la playa.
• Playa La Manzanilla de La Cruz de Huanacaxtle también será visitada por la cuadrilla de limpieza, a cargo de Tropical Incentives; la reunión será en la entrada a este balneario.
• En la playa de Bucerías el punto de reunión será en la escultura del Buzo, frente a la plaza principal.
• Las playas Nuevo Vallarta Sur y Nuevo Vallarta II serán visitadas por la cuadrilla del Fibba. Los puntos de reunión serán las Ventanas al mar de ambas playas.
• En el caso de las Islas Marietas participan prestadores de servicios turísticos y partirán de diferentes puntos de la bahía, reuniéndose frente a las islas.
La Riviera Nayarit es un destino comprometido con el entorno natural que le rodea, pues este es uno de sus mayores atractivos. Su riqueza natural lo colocan como santuario de la ballena jorobada, mantarraya gigante, tiburón ballena, tortuga marina y como uno de los sitios más importantes del país para el avistamiento de aves.
