A Message to American Citizens in Mexico on July 4th Weekend U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Mexico | |
go to original July 3, 2020 |
As we celebrate this holiday that commemorates the independence we hold so dear, we ask all U.S. Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents to remember that this is a July 4th like no other.
The Coronavirus continues to spread. Up to 400,000 people cross U.S. borders daily and 91% are U.S. citizens or LPRs. In the middle of a pandemic crossing borders is a threat to all. It WILL spread the pandemic faster. This 4th of July — for your health and that of your family — stay home, social distance and don’t risk spreading the virus.
Remember: The U.S., Mexico and Canada are restricting land borders to essential travel only through July 21st to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. The graphic below shows what constitutes essential travel at this time.
Please note that essential travel does NOT include: travel to visit family and friends, travel to shop, or travel to sightsee, or attend holiday get-togethers. This is based on public health recommendations by the United States Centers for Disease Control.
Be a patriot. Stay home. Stay safe. Fight the spread of the Pandemic.
