The board of directors of the Puerto Vallarta Gay Men’s Chorus have suspended the activities of the organization as they struggle to pay expenses.

Jeffrey Luce, president of the board, posted this message on the PVGMC social media on January 18, 2024, saying “On January 2, 2024 the board of directors of the PVGMC met and passed a resolution to suspend the activities of the PVGMC and attempt to pay current expenses. We no longer have the financial resources to continue operations at this time.”

PVGMC was co-founded by Bob Bruneau and Joyce Ericson in 2012. Bruneau also served as its first artistic director in 2012 until 2014.

It was the first gay men’s chorus in Mexico, and started auditions in April 2012. The group performed its first gay pride concert on June 17, at the boutique Theater (Nacho Daddy) and later that year held its first ever annual holiday concert.

Membership has waxed and waned over the years, along with the financial challenges of running a small non-profit.

Luce did say the group was looking for financial support and committed singers and the possibility existed that the chorus could restart.
