Our local Bomberos (firefighters) here in Puerto Vallarta have been receiving advanced training with the support of Asociación Mexicana de Jefes de Bomberos A.C. in conjunction with the National Coordination of Civil Protection and the Embassy of the United States of America.

The objective is to strengthen the capacity of all the firefighters of the Mexican Republic who provide the service of extinguishing fires, rescue, prevention and emergencies.

In order to give continuity to a series of training to all government departments, especially the operations of the Municipal Fire Department, a special course named PACE (Update Program for Training and Equipment) is used and taught by Asociación Mexicana de Jefes de Bomberos and the support associations.

The course is 45 hours and the training takes our local firefighters to San Luis Potosí where practice drills can be performed both within the classroom and outside.

The first stage of training is to teach and equip the department heads of the firefighters of the Mexican Republic in relation to international standards for the administration of the fire departments.

The purpose is to establish standardized procedures to strengthen the functions and coordination with other civil protection agencies.

Topics including in the training are: Introduction and Orientation; Relationships with the Government/Community;  Planning Model and Long Term Applications; Work with Budgets; Human/Personnel Resources; Programs of Security/Risk Management; Trends and Support Organizations; Inspection Programs; Research; Quotes and Contracts; Emergency Services; and other workshops.

Upon concluding the course with satisfactory results, the firefighters are presented with certificates for the participation and accreditation of the course.
