Virtual Tour of Rainbow Warrior III (Greenpeace)

The Rainbow Warrior, flagship of the environmental organization Greenpeace, will visit Mexico this month to show the public alternatives to build a sustainable future.

According to the executive director of Greenpeace Mexico, Femke Bartels, the itinerary of the ship includes a first tour of the Pacific Ocean from January 7 to 19, which will pass through the ports of Mazatlan, Sinaloa State, Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, and Acapulco, in Guerrero.

Meanwhile, from February 15 to 23, the Rainbow Warrior will sail into waters of the Atlantic Ocean to dock at the port of Cozumel, Quintana Roo, and end its journey in the port of Veracruz.

Adriana Lopez, volunteer coordinator, said the boat will have various activities with the aim of teaching the public alternatives to protect natural resources and the potential of renewable energy sources that contribute to combat climate change.

At the same time, Bartels said that structural reforms recently adopted in Mexico represent a challenge for all sectors, mainly for environment and indicated that as the country's second largest economy in Latin America, development can not be at the expense of the environment.

The name of the Greenpeace ship is inspired by a prophecy of the North American Indians, according to which there will come a time when the birds fall, the forest animals die, the sea blacken, and then men of all races and peoples join as rainbow warriors to fight against the destruction of the earth.
