Angelica Rivera de Peña (seated, center), President of the Consultative Council of the DIF, led the launching of the campaign 'Si No lo Registras, No Existe.' (Especial)

Laura Vargas Carrillo, head of the National System for Comprehensive Family Development (DIF), stated that ¨In Mexico three out of ten children have no birth certificate, the document that identifies them as Mexicans and opens the door to rights such as education and health.¨

During her presentation on communication strategy as part of the national campaign for universal and timely birth registration, Angelica Rivera de Pena, Chair of the Citizens' Advisory Board of the DIF, stressed the fundamental importance of registering newborns, which is not only their identity but also the first step in obtaining recognition for all their rights.

This event, held at the official residence of Los Pinos [The Pines, Presidential Residence and Executive Offices], was set in motion by the mass media as the "If You Don't Register Them, They Don't Exist" campaign. The objective was to raise awareness of the importance of immediately registering all children.
