The mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera Espinosa announced the seventh edition of the “Lorena Ochoa Invitational” golf tournament for 2014. The event turns Mexico City into the host of a world class event since the best female golfers will compete in the event. The event also helps strengthen the City’s plans to grow sporting tourism.

Mancera Espinosa who was joined by Lorena Ochoa, said the 2014 edition gives the City an opportunity to highlight a “City in peace, that welcomes athletes, in this case women who play golf from all over the world to come here and get to know our City and all it has to offer in cuisine, culture, everything that a friendly city like Mexico City has to offer.”

Lorena Ochoa, the Guadalajara native highlighted the importance this event has in the golf world, “This event is not only the most important event Mexico City hosts but the most important event our country hosts because when we welcome the world’s 36 best golfers it becomes one of the main events on a worldwide scale and on the LPGA Tour and for me it’s a pleasure being in a better place for the event such as the capital.”

The tournament, which will take place November 13- 16, 2014 and will take place annually through 2016 at the Club de Golf Mexico, has a worldwide impact as it is broadcast in over 160 countries around the world.
