Why You Should Travel Alone as a Woman (BuzzFeedYellow)

I am often asked if there are special deals for people traveling alone. There are many people in our community that do not have someone to travel with. They may not be married, a spouse has died or is unable to travel or their spouse might not like to travel. Unfortunately in the past there have been very few options for these travelers that still want to get out and see the spectacular world.

Typically in the travel world if you book a cruise or a tour you would need to pay what the travel companies call a single supplement. They could get more money if there are two paying passengers in each room as opposed to just one. On many cruises a single passenger will pay double the cabin cost excluding the taxes which makes it very expensive to travel alone. From time to time cruise lines may offer a less expensive single supplement possibly paying only 50 percent of the single supplement.

In recent years some cruise lines and some tour companies have started to recognize the need to provide solo travelers a more cost effective way of traveling. Norwegian Cruise Lines is now building single cabins on their new ships and they are already on some of their ships launched in the last few years. They are very small cabins but the savings are good. The only problem is that these single cabins sell out very quickly due to the demand for them. A few of the other cruise lines will offer solo travelers a deal if their ships are not filling up fast enough.
