The Deputy Prosecutor Specializing in Organized Crime Research (SEIDO) established a unit of analysis and intelligence to strengthen investigations carried out against members of criminal groups. Among the most notable cases are the flight of Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán Loera, operations of the Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) cartel, and the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students.

The area reports directly to Deputy Prosecutor Felipe de Jesús Muñoz Vázquez, and it shares information, conducts back office and field investigations, and supports agents of the Public Ministry with information and evidence to strengthen preliminary investigations of, among others, Rubén Oseguera González, El Menchito, son of the CJNG leader, who is considered to be the main financial operator of that criminal organization.

Officials involved in the national security cabinet revealed that the unit of analysis and intelligence conducts activities that were not carried out prior to the arrival of Attorney General Arely Gómez.

They noted that during the administration of Jesús Murillo Karam, there was tension between those leading deputy prosecutorial units and the National Center for Planning, Analysis and Information for Combating Crime (CENAPI), which complicted the exchange information and developing new leads for dismantling criminal groups.

The creation of this area was due to the non-performance of functions that should be undertaken by the CENAPI, which for several years provided support for other units of the Public Ministry inside the Attorney General's Office, concentrating all information in preliminary investigations and developing documents that served to detect criminal networks.
