Millions of Mexicans live in vulnerable zones to the impact of tropical storms and hurricanes, according to data published today by the National Center of Disaster Prevention (Cenapred).

At least 5,045,000 persons in Guerrero, Jalisco, Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo could be affected by hurricanes, indicated the entity. Also over 1,474,000 houses, 1,448 health centers and 3,000 health centers and 3,569 schools.

Cenapred informed that hurricanes that impacted Jalisco, Oaxaca and Quintana Roo between 2000 and 2010 cost the country over 38 billion  pesos.

The forecasts of the National Meteorological System point to a probable formation of 10 tropical ciclones in the Pacific and five in the Atlantic until November this year.
