Central American migrants often face barriers when it comes to registering their children for school and accessing financial aid, claim activists.
Central American migrants who live along the coast of the State of Chiapas marched on Sunday to denounce the discrimination that their children, born on Mexican territory, face by schools managers, who refuse to register them arguing they need to provide a document of migratory residence.
The protesters, mostly mothers, marched in the streets of various municipalities like Tapachula, Huixtla and Pijijia, brandishing the flags of Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras, as the three countries were all celebrating their independence Day last week.
...Last year, the local government of Mexico City enacted measures that condemned discrimination, especially from the part of public servants, on the base of creed, race or sexual orientation.
