Female Cartel Hit Squad Boss 'La China' Arrested in Baja California

A woman accused of heading a cartel hit squad and who is allegedly responsible for more than 180 violent incidents in the resort area of Baja California was arrested over the weekend in Mexico.

Melissa Margarita 'La China' Calderon Ojeda was taken into custody along with some of her hitmen on Saturday afternoon near the airport in Cabo San Lucas as she attempted to flee to Culiacán, Sinaloa, according to Fox News Latino.

The 30-year-old, who is believed to have killed at least nine people, is reportedly responsible for much of the violence in the Mexican resort area.

The secretary general of Baja California Sur, Alvaro de la Peña, confirmed her arrest on Sunday and said that it was completed without any gunfire.
