Mexico, US arrested 40,000 child migrants since 2010 (CCTV America)
The number of children and families arrested for crossing into the U.S. through the Mexico border has doubled, Fox News Latino reports.
Last August, the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended 6,424 unaccompanied immigrant children and families in August 2014. This August, 9,790 were cuffed.
The surge in arrests of unaccompanied minors and families, mostly mothers with their children, has many experts bewildered, as the overall number of arrests of those illegally migrating to the U.S. through the southern border has decreased since 2014. In fact, the news site reports that total arrests are down 50 percent from last year.
