Autumn has arrived in Yucatan, and that means it’s time for Merida’s biggest annual cultural celebration: the International Festival of Mayan Culture (FICMAYA).

For 10 days (Oct. 16-25), FICMAYA 2015 will celebrate the best of artistic talent in all its forms, this year featuring many musicians, dancers and other artists from Cuba, the festival’s special guest country.

The festival also will bring together researchers, writers, specialists in Mayan language, academics and national and international speakers, looking to find new light in the sky and the cosmology of the Mayan world.

FICMAYA 2015 is dedicated this year to the theme of Science in Architecture, Time and Territory of the Maya. The goal is to provide international specialists an opportunity for dialogue, discovery and knowledge sharing, and to present the written testimony of authors who have dedicated themselves to clarify the enigmas of science of the Maya.

Sponsored by the Yucatan state government as well as federal tourism and cultural agencies and major private companies, FICMAYA promises to offer the general public of Southeast Mexico the best talent from other countries, not to mention Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula.
