1st eye wall penetration into the Hurricane Patricia. The first 2 minutes is the approach and actual eye wall penetration, the next 2 minutes is in the actual eye of the storm and the last minute is the entry into the other side of the eye wall. – NOAA Hurricane Hunters (geniemist)

Dramatic footage shows the moment storm chasers burst through Hurricane Patricia, into the eye and out the other side.

The aircraft rattles as it travels through thick cloud before it’s exposed to the eerie silence of the storm’s eye.

The hurricane hunters were gathering data on temperature, humidity, pressure – critical for forecasting the intensity and path of Patricia.
