On October 23 Hurricane Patricia made landfall in Mexico as a Category 5 hurricane with winds up to 325 kilometers per hour [202 mph]. World Vision México, the international humanitarian organization, announced that "in its wake it left severe damage in Jalisco municipalities and [indigenous] communities located in vulnerable areas. They require urgent assistance to move forward."

The disaster was confirmed by the emergency team deployed by World Vision México to the municipalities of Mascota, La Huerta and Autlán, located in Jalisco's coastal and mountainous regions.

On Friday - one week after the hurricane - the Secretariat of Government Relations [SEGOB] decreed "extraordinary emergency" in 34 municipalities in Jalisco, including those mentioned by the NGO.

...World Vision México reported numerous destroyed roads, food scarcities, 1,000 flooded houses and the total loss of clothes and household belongings. The aid organization indicated that the most efficient and effective way to support the families in need after Hurricane Patricia is through financial contributions, which can be made by going to the World Vision México website.
