Mexican Nationals seeking an opportunity in the United States typically face an extra barrier when it comes to visa sponsorship through employers. But one San Antonio startup hopes to ease that entry and help fill local bilingual information technology jobs.

Jesus ‘Tito’ Salas ran the San Antonio Mexican Entrepreneurial Challenge competition for Geekdom last year that sought to connect South Texas to Mexican startups.

“I went to Mexico several times to give conferences and visit incubators, universities and startups and we’d talk about Geekdom,” Salas said. That's why he started CodersLink, the recruiting service.

While head hunters and recruiters have a long tradition in the information technology field as employers search for the best talent, the Salas business model is free for the company and prospective candidates offer him a slice of their offered salary up to 12 percent.

“We help developers get the best salary as possible and we get a commission out of it, but we don’t charge it to the companies,” he said.
