The NFL's desire to expand the International Series to Mexico City continues in earnest.

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported this week in his NFL notebook that the league will send a contingent to Mexico City for further evaluations of the Azteca Stadium - the second time the NFL's done so in a three-week span.

The stadium was the site of a successful 2005 tilt between the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals - drawing an attendance of 103,467.

One source told Breer the NFL is "continuing to look for solutions" that will allow a 2016 game to be played in Mexico City.

Among the issues yet to be resolved: 1) The locker room situation; 2) the amount of space for the broadcasting network to set up; 3) the technical infrastructure that would allow things like coach-to-quarterback communication.

The NFL's persistent prodding of Azteca Stadium indicates their very real desire to stage a game in Mexico City in 2016. Whether the league believes it can make the logistics work in the renovated 49-year-old stadium remains an unanswered question for now.
