Ten thousand steps a day to stay healthy is the formula proposed by the technical director of the Mexican organization Assets, Roberto Perez, who called for a massive hike in the capital.

The deterioration of health by physical inactivity is enormous worldwide and the main problem is that people do not know how to do exercises, he said.

So, Mexican Assets thereby called to walk 10,000 steps, or seven kilometers on Sunday 13. That is the distance recommended daily for an average person to stay healthy, considered the trainer.

The march will start from the Monument to the Revolution to four different points of the city with pedometers and step counters.

"Our major problem in Mexico and the world is that people do not move,' he said.

He said the trigger for chronic and degenerative diseases is overweight caused by a sedentary lifestyle.

Perez estimated that about 8,000 people will participate in the walk of 10,000 steps.
