Paint Remover: Mexico Activists Attempt to Drone Out Beleaguered President (Droncita)

Piloting a drone can be as exhilarating as flying a plane and just as dangerous, causing serious personal injuries since Mexico has no regulations for the use of the technology and no minimum training requirements for users.

"There are no regulations, no legislation," Edwin Gomez Torres, president of the Mexican Drones Association, said in an interview with EFE in Guadalajara, the capital of the western state of Jalisco, where the country's first drone festival was held.

Gomez Torres was referring to the fact that until now the Communications and Transportation Secretariat's Civil Aviation General Directorate has only issued a list of recommendations for drone users, with the bulletin coming out in April.

The agency's mandatory notice AV 23/10 R on the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, provides some guidance for pilots but does not include penalties or list responsibilities.
