Raw: Rare Snowstorm Blankets Northern Mexico (Associated Press)

Three people were killed in northern Mexico as a result of low temperatures caused by the fifth winter storm, stated authorities in the states of Chihuahua and Sonora.

Two people died of hypothermia in northwestern Chihuahua and 60 suffered frostbites or were poisoned by carbon monoxide, informed the state's Health Secretary, Pedro Hernández.

He added that hospitals and emergency units of the Mexican Social Security Institute attended 120 patients with fractures and other injuries, mostly elderly and children who slipped on the icy pavement.

...The National Migration Institute recommended domestic and foreign migrants to avoid traveling to northern Mexico, where low temperatures predominate.
