President Enrique Peña Nieto said that the government is an ally of Guerrero and is working to overcome adversity and to make the state more prosperous and inclusive.
In an attempt to evaluate the progress of the New Guerrero Plan (PNG), the president said that the new governor will lead a state with a great challenge: the security problem that is present in various regions of the state.
“We don’t want Guerrero to be known for its insecurity,” he said and endorsed the help of the federal government so that the state will be known for its diverse economic activity and tourism.
Peña Nieto announced that from the start of Héctor Astudillo Flores’ administration, the security cabinet was instructed to maintain a constant and permanent relationship with state authorities and to revise the strategies and execution of actions that allow for peace and tranquility to be achieved in the state.
He said that the representatives of the cabinet will have at least one meeting per month with state authorities to create a balance and to evaluate the different strategies aimed toward Guerrero security.
