Parents of the 43 forcibly disappeared Ayotzinapa students met with Mexican Attorney General Arely Gomez Thursday to learn about developments in the investigation of the September 2014 disappearances in Iguala, Guerrero.

Members of the group of independent international experts investigating the case, which has repeatedly criticized the official version of events and the government’s handling of the Ayotzinapa investigation, also attended the meeting at the Attorney General’s office, local media reported.

The parents’ lawyer, Vidulfo Rosales, said that the committee of Ayotzinapa families would present eight new demands regarding the case after hearing the Attorney General’s update and plans for the investigation. The new demands have not yet been made public.

“The demand is that they (investigations) carry on until we know the truth,” said Ayotzinapa parents spokesperson Felipe de la Cruz, according to UniObregon. Cruz added that the committee of families has been met with government resistance for more than a year regarding their demands in the case.

Parents of the 43 students are planning another Caravan in northern Mexico to help garner support for their search for their missing children, according to their lawyer.
