While many had to pull out some extra blankets to stay warm over the weekend, those without a place to stay in Nuevo Laredo sought refuge at the area homeless shelter.

Officials in Nuevo Laredo say they were at about 60 percent of capacity.

That was for the hours after dark, but people were able to leave once it was the afternoon and things warmed up a bit. They say they will continue to be on standby as the potential for cold temperatures continue.
