Addressing social inequality, poverty and climate change as global challenges were among the main topics discussed in Mexico in the five-day sessions of the Second International Meeting of the Democratic Left.

At the event, which concluded last week at the Museum of the City of Mexico, were analyzed the topics: "Inequality and job insecurity and income", and "Migration Flow: America, Europe, Asia and Africa".

The governor of the Mexican state of Michoacán, Silvano Aureoles, made reference to global inequality as the biggest challenge worldwide, as well as to the importance of justice for all, solidarity and the preservation of the environment.

Neoliberal policies attempt to make individuality prevail and far from solving the problems, lead humanity to alarming inequality indicators, he highlighted.

The struggle of the left wing should promote development and wealth creation, but also its distribution, he added.

The Governor, belonging to the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD, in Spanish) said that this event revealed the capabilities of 'our methods to build more just and equitable societies, to eliminate injustice, inequality, exclusion and poverty'.
