Mazatlán Surf Open 2015 (PXTVHD)

The 2016 Mazatlán Surf Open returns to the city's gorgeous waterscape in March, and is expected to be more exciting and competitive than ever before, according to El Cid Vacations Club. The biggest surfing event in Mexico, the Mazatlán Surf Open draws competitors and enthusiasts from all over the globe and is the most important gathering of its kind on the continent.

El Cid Vacations Club reminds Mazatlán visitors that the contest is actually geared for spectators, so there's no need to be a surfer or expert of any kind to soak up the excitement of big-time surfing competition. The Mazatlán Surf Open is the equivalent of an Indy 500 race, bringing in dozens of Mexico's biggest names in world-wide surfing, ready to go head-to-head atop mammoth waves for attractive cash awards and prizes of all kinds.

As for the serious side of the event, organizers work hard to put on a major sporting competition and raise funds for charitable and environmental causes at the same time. According to El Cid Vacations Club, the Mazatlán Surf Open organizing committee has a three-pronged mission: to promote environmental awareness, music, and international sport surfing. One of the many groups working with the organizing committee is called "Surfers with a Cause," whose altruistic goals go a long way toward promoting the sport and helping the community at the same time.

El Cid Vacations Club says that travelers should note the fact that the Surf Open is not all about its namesake sport. There will be plenty of contests and prizes given away to participants as well as spectators. There's also a music concert during the event that offers something for the whole family to enjoy.
