To reach the U.S.-Mexican border, many Central American migrants travel by rail. It is a treacherous journey traveling on a train known as the “Beast.”

There aren’t train tickets or really even seats on this train. Desperate migrants hold on to the train in any way they can, in order to be able to hitch a ride on the train to get to a life they imagine is better than the one they had.
