Ever Wonder How It Feels to Travel While Brown? (JusReign)
Sikh comedian Jasmeet Singh is calling out the TSA for his “terrible” treatment after a Bay Area airport made him remove his turban and walk across the terminal with his head partially uncovered on Monday.
“That attitude, ‘It’s not our problem’ needs to change,” the Indian-Canadian entertainer and YouTube star told the Daily News.
The incident Singh calls “insensitive” comes just two weeks after actor Waris Ahluwalia was banned from boarding a flight out of Mexico when he refused to remove his turban in public, which he likened to “asking someone to take off their clothes.”
Security agents also wouldn’t let Singh on his flight back to Toronto unless he removed his headwear for additional screening. He complied, and said security not only delayed him for half an hour, but also refused to provide a mirror for him to reapply his turban.
Singh had to walk across the terminal to a bathroom with his head partially uncovered, which is offensive to his Sikh faith.
